Gem Garland Stove
Meet Angela
1900 Gem Garland

The early 1900s Gem Garland has a unique design among the other Hotties. Its three-part body design and nickel-plated claw-foot legs set it apart from most stoves’ cylindrical bodies and cast-iron bases.

Backstory

Born in the early 1900s in the bustling foundries of the Michigan Stove Company, the first Gem Garland was a showpiece of American craftsmanship, and Angela, one of the finest of her kind, carried that legacy with elegance and fire. With her intricate nickel trim and arched mica windows, she once graced the parlor of a Detroit boarding house, her warmth a welcome to tired travelers and whispering conversations over tea. Named Angela by the housekeeper who polished her daily, the stove became a quiet companion, steady and refined.

Now, more than a century later, Angela sits proudly among a fleet of antique stoves in the JNT Company office in Manhattan, Kansas—a gallery of iron history. Though her flames are long extinguished, she still commands attention, her presence a reminder of a time when heat was heart and stoves like hers were the soul of the home.
